Samsung’s Galaxy S10, A50 & A30 will no longer get updates

Category: News
Samsung has ended official software support for the Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy A50, and Galaxy A30. These phones debuted in early 2019 and completed four years in the market last month. The company’s revised policy of five years of security updates doesn’t apply to devices launched in 2019.
The Galaxy S10 series will not receive updates anymore

Samsung launched the Galaxy S10 series in February 2019, with sales beginning in March. At the end of March 2023, the Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy S10+ have lived through the promised official support of four years. They debuted with Android 9 and received updates to Android 10, Android 11, and Android 12 during this period, along with dozens of security updates.
But with us now stepping into April, time’s up for Samsung’s 2019 flagships. The company has removed them from its official software support list. The devices will not get updates anymore, neither feature updates nor security updates. That means users will not receive new features or the latest security patches, leaving them vulnerable to threat attacks. Upgrading to a newer phone is recommended.
The Galaxy S10 5G is also part of Samsung’s 2019 flagship lineup. However, it didn’t arrive on the market until April. So the world’s first commercial 5G smartphone still has one more month of official support left. The Korean behemoth will probably drop it from its support list next month.
The Galaxy S10 Lite, on the other hand, debuted in early 2020 and will get updates until January 2024. You can check the full list of Galaxy smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches currently getting updates from Samsung.
The Galaxy A50 and Galaxy A30 have also reached the end of their lives

Samsung revamped its mid-range smartphone portfolio in 2019, discontinuing a few lineups and rebranding others. The Galaxy A50 and Galaxy A30 marked the beginning of a new journey as the company faced stiff competition from Chinese brands.
The former was an instant hit, and the Galaxy A5x lineup has been its “best value” smartphone ever since. The new-launched Galaxy A54 5G doesn’t disappoint either.
However, for those holding onto an aging Galaxy A50, it’s high time you upgrade your phone. The same goes for Galaxy A30 owners as well. These phones have reached the end of their lives.
They will not get updates anymore, at least not guaranteed. Samsung sometimes pushes one more update after dropping official support, but keep your hopes low for that. If you want to grab the Galaxy A54 5G, pre-orders are now open in the US.
